Reconstruction of missing posterior maxillary teeth often requires bone grafting prior to implant placement to compensate for the resorption and atrophy of the alveolar ridge following tooth loss. The lateral window sinus lift (LWSL) bone augmentation procedure, first introduced by Dr. Hilt Tatum in 1976, has been utilized with great success for nearly 50 years. The performance of the LWSL requires a detailed and thorough understanding of the associated anatomy both physically and radiographically. In addition, selection of biologics, such as, bone grafting material, membranes and pharmacologic agents is essential. Furthermore, fine surgical skills with the appropriate instrumentation is necessary for successful outcomes.
The course will be divided into a didactic lecture component followed by a full day of live surgery overseen by a qualified, experienced instructor. Each participant will perform two lateral window sinus lift procedures with bone grafting and the use of platelet rich fibrin. A one-week post op meeting will occur via Zoom with photos and discussion of the patient’s recovery period.
Lecture
Pre-course: 4 + hours via Zoom of didactic education on the sinus lift procedure
Indications, Anatomy, Treatment Planning, Surgical technique, Instrumentation, Grafting materials, PRF, pre-op/post-op medications, post-surgical care.
Course: Live Lateral Window Sinus Lift: 8 hours
